PUBLIC NOTICE

 

MAY 31, 2022 DEADLINE TO PAY COUNTY TAXES

 

 

The deadline to pay the first half of Wise County 2022 real estate taxes is May 31, 2022.  

After the May 31st due date, penalty will be added to taxes that have not been paid.  The penalty is 10% or $2.00, whichever is greater, however, the penalty shall in no case exceed the amount of the original tax.  In addition, 5% interest per year will be charged beginning June 1, 2022.

 

Payments can be mailed to Wise County Treasurer, P O Box 1308, Wise VA 24293 or paid in person at the Wise County Treasurers’ Office located in Wise, during regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Closed for lunch from 12:00-1:00.
 

Payments can also be placed in the DROP BOX, located near the parking garage entrance at the back of the Courthouse.

 

Citizens are offered the convenience of paying current taxes at the following banks:

First Bank & Trust in Wise and City of Norton;

Miners Exchange Banks in Appalachia, Coeburn, St Paul, Wise and City of Norton;

New Peoples Bank in Big Stone Gap and Esserville;

Powell Valley National Bank in Big Stone Gap and Wise 

 

Provided for the taxpayer’s additional convenience, taxes may also be paid by credit/debit card through, https://keynet.wisecounty.org/BillPay/. A convenience fee of 2.75 % will be charged by the card provider. Also, taxpayers may call the Wise County Treasurer’s office and pay with a check by phone. A convenience fee of $1.95 will be charged by the provider for this service.

For questions concerning payments or if you have not received a tax ticket for property owned, please contact the Wise County Treasurer’s Office at (276) 328-4077.
