Meet
the newly appointed GIO
The
office of Geographic Information Sciences is responsible
for the acquisition, analysis, and dissemination of geographical
information in connection with the county's Geographic Information
System. The Geographic Information Sciences department
exists to establish a uniform standard of geographic information
throughout all the local government departments and offices
as well as disseminate information to these entities and
the public.

Wise County GIS and Addressing Department verifying 911 addresses
Please be advised that Wise County GIS and Addressing Department is currently calling individuals who are not linked in the current 911-system database for the purpose of emergency response. Wise County GIS will ask for your 911 address, a description of your home and, in limited cases, directions to your home. This information will be used in the event of an emergency to direct emergency responders to your home. Only authorized personnel will have access to this information. Upon project completion, 911 dispatchers will automatically have a mapped location of the residence the phone call originated from. Please inform your friends, family and neighbors of these potential phone calls from Wise County GIS and Addressing. If you receive one of these calls and you are not home, please call us back as soon as possible between the hours of 8-4:30pm. If you cannot call back between those hours please leave us a message stating your name, phone number, 911 address, directions to your home and a detailed description of your home. If possible leave us a phone number in the event we need to contact you. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as Wise County continues to provide rapid response to emergency situations.
