Deputy Treasurer Position
The Wise County Treasurer is accepting applications for a full- time position of Deputy Treasurer.
The duties of this position will include:
-- To assist in billing and collection of local and state taxes.
-- To assist taxpayers by answering questions, accepting payments on taxes and collecting fees for licenses.
-- Monitor delinquent tax files and work on efforts to collect them.
Applicants must work well with the public and possess considerable computer skills. Use of computer software programs to record and account for billings and collections, as well as, delinquent collection methods, is a must.

Student Intern Positions for G.I.S. Development
The Circuit Court Clerk's Office accepts University of Virginia's College at Wise and Mountain Empire Community College student interns to work on the Wise County Geographic Information System data development.
College credit may be obtained for working on a research demonstration project relating to Geographical Information System (GIS) applications through either UVa's College at Wise or MECC. Students should contact Circuit Court Clerk Jack Kennedy directly about the program.
The Circuit Court Clerk's Office is partnering with NASA's Langley Research Center's Digital Earth Virtual Environment and Learning Outreach Project (DEVELOP). The goal is to expand the GIS into 3-D visualization and remote sensing studies of Wise County by Wise County students.
