The Wise County Board of Supervisors met in a Recessed meeting on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Conference room in the County Administrator’s Office located in the Wise County courthouse. The following were present:

IN RE: STEPHENS/GUEST RIVER SEWER
Administrator Scott explained that the County has until December 28, 2009 to award the contract for the Stephens/Guest River Sewer Project. The ARRA Stimulus Program requires that the project be under contract by award date, otherwise, the grant could be lost.
Bill Skeen, representing Maxim Engineering, reviewed the bids that were received on the project. The low bidder was Haren Construction Company on both contracts; #1 and #2. Mr. Skeen recommended award of bid to Haren Construction after conference with and concurrence from County Attorney Karen Mullins.
Wayne Watts gave a brief history on the sewer project and the environmental concerns.
IN RE: STEPHENS/GUEST RIVER SEWER PROJECT / AWARD OF BID
A motion was made by Bob Adkins, seconded by Dana Kilgore, to award the bid for the Stephens/Guest River Sewer Project to the low bidder, Haren Construction Company, for a contract price of $2,705,350.00. The motion was unanimously approved.
A motion was made by Ronnie Shortt, seconded by Dana Kilgore, to adjourn the meeting. The motion was unanimously approved.
