The Wise County Board of Supervisors met in an Organizational Meeting on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 5:50 PM in the School Board Education Center located on Lake Street in Wise.  The following members were present:

Honorable Virginia Meador
Honorable Dana Kilgore
Honorable J. H. Rivers
Honorable Robert E. Robbins, Jr.
Honorable Fred Luntsford
Honorable Ronald L. Shortt
Honorable Steve Bates, members of said Board and
Shannon C. Scott – County Administrator
David L. Cox – Finance Administrator
Karen T. Mullins – County Attorney

ABSENT

Annette Underwood – Executive Secretary

PRAYER

Shannon Scott led in prayer.

PLEDGE

All led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

IN RE:  TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN

A motion was made by J. H. Rivers, seconded by Virginia Meador, to elect Shannon Scott as temporary Chairman.  The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE:  ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN

J. H. Rivers nominated Bob Adkins as Board Chairman for 2015.

Ronnie Shortt made a motion that nominations cease and Mr. Adkins be elected by acclamation.  Virginia Meador seconded the motion.  The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE:  ELECTION OF VICE-CHAIR

Fred Luntsford nominated Virginia Meador as Vice-Chair for 2015.

J. H. Rivers made a motion that nominations cease and Virginia Meador be elected Vice-Chair by acclamation.  Robby Robbins seconded the motion.  The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE:  TERM OF OFFICE

A motion was made by Fred Luntsford, seconded by Ronnie Shortt that the term of office for chairman and vice-chairman be for one (1) year.  The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE:  ROBERTS RULES OF ORDER AND RULES OF PROCEDURE

A motion was made by Robby Robbins, seconded by Virginia Meador, to adopt the Roberts Rules of Order and Rules of Procedure as presented.  The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE:  TIME/DATE OF BOARD MEETINGS

A motion was made by Robby Robbins, seconded by J. H. Rivers, to set the time of the Board meetings at 6:00 PM on the seconded Thursday of each month to be held at the Wise County School Board Education Center.  The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE: TIE VOTE METHOD

A motion was made by Robby Robbins, seconded by Dana Kilgore, that a tie vote means a “no” vote.  The motion was unanimously approved.

ADJOURN

There being no further business, a motion was made by Robby Robbins, seconded by Fred Luntsford, to adjourn the meeting.  The motion was unanimously approved.
