Salyers asked that the St. Paul Boundary Adjustment be placed
on the agenda to send out for public hearing in January.
IN RE: MOUNTAIN
EMPIRE COMMUNITY COLLEGE UPDATE
Terrance E. Suarez, President of
MECC, addressed the Board with the latest update on the
activities and events at the college.
He thanked the Board for its continued support for
the college and the efforts that are being put forth for
a better education of our citizens.
IN RE: PUBLIC
EXPRESSION
Cindy Mefford, representing the
Junction Center, informed the board that the Junction Center,
a non-profit organization established by and for people
with disabilities, has recently moved its office to the
Wise County Shopping Center.
She explained that the main goal of the Center is
to increase disabilities awareness to the community and
change the attitudes traditionally associated with persons
having disabilities.
Ms. Mefford voiced the Junction Center's appreciation
for the Board's continued support, which helps provide for
the needs of the disabled.
Mike Kennedy, a resident of the
Bull Hill community, asked that a speed study be made on
Bull Run Road.
He said speed signs are needed to control the speed
through that residential area.
There being no further comments,
the public expression period was closed.
IN RE:
ROADS & HIGHWAYS
Highway Resident Engineer T. G.
Branson informed the Board that he has already received
several requests for a speed study on Bull Run Road.
The request is being reviewed.
However, a letter is needed from the Board of Supervisors
requesting the speed study.
Chairman Stallard directed the County
Administrator to prepare the letter as requested.
Board members presented needs in
their districts for Mr. Branson to review.
